still...
We recognize
That time
Stands still
As bells ring
For freedom
For truth
For resolution
A revolution
That was televised in color
Taped
Recorded
Looping
And then delayed
Without honor
Spreading death
Like coronavirus
Bullets bleed
The sky
And screams
Are muffled
Into concrete
With knees on knecks
Heavy as chains
Like shackles on feet
Blood flows
Across statelines
As land mines
Are activated
Followed by
Sheriff cars
And police sirens
We recognize
The inadequacy
And inequalities
Still
We want peace
Restitution
And our fair share
Of reparations
Generations and generations
Of planning and resolve
Correct
We are not
Our ancestors
We will rise up
We will speak loud
We will stand our ground
And we will fight proud
So
There will be
Justice
For us
And justice
By us
Say her name
Say his name
Black
Lives
Matter

some...time by ahsek novel
it took some time
but
I came down
high off ego
and anticipation
elated
I found my smile again
my heart beats again
I always
remember him
but does the pieces
to this puzzle fit
does it make sense
to anyone else
I came down
floating on emotion
feeling brand new
recognizing beauty
in all things
I sing songs again
painting stilllife and abstract again
I began to taste again
my numbness dissolved
and I remembered
myself
I came down
standing tall and firm
speaking loud and clear
words spoken
like a true artist
word
I’m ready for you
I'm ready for whatever
and I believe again

good enough
I sit silently
across the room as I
glance secretly at his face
he rarely looks up from his cup
of sweet smiles
I know this much because
I watch him
I’m curious about him
Sometimes
I wonder if I’m good enough
I doubt myself
because he reminds me of perfection
he is intimidating and humbling
how can one be so rare
and boldly walk the earth
I sit silently
across the room
keeping my feelings bottled tight
I dream of getting lost in his eyes
I dream of tasting his kiss
I dream of becoming one with his flesh
these are my thoughts
I’m thinking
dreams are harmless
but I can’t ignore these feelings
as time passes
I become familiar with his moves
I become intoxicated by his voice
his smile is forever imprinted in my mind
I watch him walk in and out of time
how I wish he would take time
with me
we become close
close enough to feel his heartbeat
silently I wait
finally
he notices me
we exchange smiles
it feels good
he whispers to me
at that moment
I knew I was good enough
for him
now
we sit silently together
he has his cup
and I’m writing this poem
life is simple
life is good
it becomes easy
He remembered to call
Yet
I forgot to answer
Damn
I feel twisted
Tight and tangled like a barbed wire fence
Stable and sound
Not with any intent
To cut and scrape
But I do
Nothing but bags full
Of bandages and gauze so readily available
As if
I planned it all from the beginning
Something like that crazy bitch from Gone Girl
And so very different
So now what
I resume from the part where I paused
My life just because I can and I do
I move in and out of time
Blocking punches and curving emotional attachment
They say...it becomes easy
Running away
Staying is hard but leaving is not an option
It’s like I want to smoke a cigarette but I don’t smoke
I know it’s not healthy but what is
We guard ourselves from imaginary threats
And so blindly fall into pits of snakes
Now I’m rambling
But I’m always poetic
Maybe one day I’ll call back
And he’ll remember why he wanted me
We’ll act as if nothing ever happened between us
And that too will be okay and furthest from the truth

looking for love dot dot dot...
he says i'm looking for love
i said i'm not
i know that looking for love is like looking for a ticking time bomb
and
once you finally find it
it can explode and hurt really bad or you could detonate it just in time and have an amazing expereience
so
as it relates to him
i found something that i wasn't looking for
and i'm unexpectedly happy for the moments
the phone calls and texts
the smiles and winks
side eyes and shit talking
the relativity and the retrospective
his brown eyes
his vanilla skin
his vanilla skin
his soft lips
and his perfect touch
his maturity and his humility
the ultimate connectivity
so
time travels fast and in a parallel world
we are supreme
we are husband and wife
still
i'm not looking for love
here
we're just us
and that's just enough

testing 123 by ahsek novel
somewhere/between sunsets and moonlight fireflies/we dance upon whispers/of love/we exchange smiles/and tongue kisses/that reveal secret inhibitions/just enough/to get their attention/we joke/we laugh/and then we repeat/until we become/high/full and exhausted/by the realness of/each moment
seashells by ahsek novel
the sunlight
reflected
a goodness in you
that i never
knew existed
it was
the touch of your skin
that urged me
to fall deeper
it was
the sound of your voice
that claimed my heart
i surrender

euphoria by ahsek novel
side by side
as we
glide
through time
in and out of line
it feels divine
like fine wine
our conversations
are perfectly aged
ripe
without hesitation
an immortal kiss
the sweetest sensation
with motivation
and temptation
ripe
like fine wine
our conversations
are perfectly aged
